The Red African deep-sea crab has a pure and delicate taste with sweet nuances in the legs and claws, a burst of marine flavours, a true delicacy that allows for a multitude of gastronomic preparations. Its meat is a good source of protein and, together with its low fat content, has great nutritional value. Although both parts have a similar taste, it is the claws that are most valued commercially, as they have a higher meat content. The fishing gear used is the pot, which gives it a very high sustainability status. It is very popular in Asian countries (Japan, South Korea, China,) where it is highly appreciated. However, it has increased in commercial value around the world due to the high demand it is currently experiencing, driven by King crab prices.
